Studio Sessions

Cards, calendars & creative chaos (the good kind!)

June Wallpapers

This month’s wallpapers are simple, sweet, and full of easy-breezy flower vibes. They’re kind of like a mini garden for your screen. 🌼

Hey Reader, happy June! 🌿

I don’t know about you, but this time of year always has me craving a reset. More sunlight, iced coffee drinks on repeat, and about a hundred ideas swirling in my head. This month’s Studio Sessions has a little bit of everything: new greeting cards, a peek at some gorgeous print samples, the latest tool I’m trying out to get my biz more organized (hello, Notion!), and of course, your fresh June wallpapers, cheerful florals, and all. 🌼

Grab something cold to sip, get comfy, and let’s dive in!

New Samples from Sellers Publishing

Few things feel more satisfying than holding your art in real-life product form, and this month I got to do just that! I received two new card samples from Sellers Publishing: one for Father’s Day (“May the course be with you”, yep you read that right. This card has been licensed twice by the same partner for different occasions! Amazing right?!) and one for Mother’s Day (“To my mom who naps like a queen”). I love how they turned out, from the colours to the finishes, they are just fab!

Investing in My Growth

I’m also doing something that feels equal parts exciting and nerve-wracking: getting a professional portfolio review. It’s easy to get tunnel vision when you’re working alone, and I really wanted some honest feedback from someone who's active in licensing and can see my art with fresh eyes. I’m hoping it’ll help me get clearer on what I do well, what I can grow into, and where my art feels most at home. I’ll keep you posted!

Birthday Cards Are Here!

Lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun dreaming up new birthday card ideas, and honestly, I’m pretty smitten with how they turned out! There’s a pasta party with a disco twist, and a zebra with main-character vibes, obviously living its best life. These designs gave me the perfect excuse to play with silly puns, bold colours, and just have a good time making art that makes me smile.

I’ve finished three so far, and I’ve got more ideas bubbling in the background. Bright colours and a good pun? That’s my sweet spot. I’m already itching to dive into the next batch.

Let's Work Together!

Are you looking to collaborate on a project or maybe you're interested in licensing my artwork? I'd love to hear from you!

Getting My Creative Biz into Notion

So here’s a little something I’ve been meaning to do for ages: move my creative business planning into Notion. I used to use Airtable, but I always found it a bit rigid for the way my brain works. Airtable has interfaces, but I never clicked with them, and I barely used that part of it. What I really wanted was the freedom to plop anything—notes, links, databases, visuals—wherever I needed them. So I made the switch.

Between all the art, deadlines, and pitch emails, I realized my sticky notes + memory system just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I needed a place to keep everything connected, all in one view, but flexible enough to actually use. So I’ve been slowly building a hub that feels like home for all my ideas, projects, and plans.

So far, I’ve set up:

  • a big ol’ art database (hello, patterns, collections, and illustrations!)
  • a master calendar for deadlines and launches
  • a pitch log to track convos and submissions
  • and my favourite: a brain dump zone for all my half-baked ideas 🍳

It’s a bit of an experiment right now, but I already feel lighter just having it started.

Are you into Notion too? Or are you more of a sticky-notes-and-notebook-stack kind of human? No shame either way, I’m a little of both.

I’ll share more once I’ve lived in the system for a bit and figured out what’s working (and what I’ve already ditched).

How tariffs affect surface pattern designers

An insightful read from Elizabeth Silver on how the American tariffs are affecting designers and the companies they work with.

16 print-on-demand stats and trends

A peek into the latest print-on-demand stats from Printful, covering what’s been growing and shifting over the past year.

State of cold email

A super interesting breakdown of cold emailing: what’s working, what’s not, and a few surprising stats I didn’t expect.

Question of the month

How do you keep track of your creative projects? Are you a digital planner person? A notebook hoarder? Somewhere in between? Hit reply and let me know, I love hearing how other creatives stay organized.

That’s a wrap for this month’s little studio catch-up! I’ll be bouncing between admin and art-making the rest of June, but I’ll keep you posted on how the Notion setup and portfolio feedback goes. Thanks for being here with me; it really means a lot.

Until next time, stay inspired and keep creating!
